Lee CountyCentennial Celebration Art ExhibitFeatured in the Sanford Herald NewspaperWednesday, January 24, 2007 After viewing the 90 two-and three-dimensional original artworks submitted to the Centennial Art Exhibit Committee, the judges had accepted 29 pieces to be included in the exhibit. These are on display in the lobby and mezzanine areas and walls of the two front offices of Capital Bank, 130 N. Steele St. in Sanford, North Carolina. Meet the Art Show judges: Linda Johnson Dougherty is currently organizing exhibitions and developing artist' projects for the North Carolina Museum of Art's Museum Park. She co-directed the public art program for the state of N.C. for several years and prior to that, she was a curator at the Phillips Collection, a research associate at the National Gallery of Art and a research assistant at the National Museum of American Art in Washington, D.C. Linda FitzSimons is a graduate of Meredith College, where she has taught for 18 years, and holds a master of fine arts degree from the University of N.C. at Greensboro. Currently teaching painting, drawing, 2D design and independent studies along with her administrative responsibilities, she also directs summer art programs to the Southwest.
Art exhibition will remain on display at the Capital Bank during weekday business hours through February 6. |
